Six Saudi-flagged supertankers have altered their course in the Gulf of Aden in recent days, diverting to southern Africa in response to threats by Yemen's Houthi movement to target Saudi shipping, according to ship-tracking data.
The move comes as tensions escalate in the region, with the Houthi movement issuing warnings to Saudi vessels to stay away from the area. The supertankers, which were previously en route to Asia, have changed course and are now heading towards southern Africa, where they will likely offload their cargo.
