Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Able Seaman (AB) (Advanced) to join our team aboard assigned US NAVY Range Support Craft for the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) at Barking Sands, HI.
Job Summary:
The Able Seaman (AB) (Advanced) is a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) crew position responsible for performing a variety of tasks on board the vessel, including but not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the navigation and operation of the vessel, including standing watch and performing duties as a member of the bridge team
- Perform deck maintenance and repairs, including painting, cleaning, and repairing equipment
- Assist in the loading and unloading of cargo, including securing and unsecuring cargo
- Participate in safety and security procedures, including drills and training exercises
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Master or Officer in Charge
Requirements:
- Must hold a valid Able Seaman (AB) (Advanced) rating on the Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience as an Able Seaman (AB) (Advanced) on a US flag vessel
- Must have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Must have a valid US Coast Guard medical certificate
- Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a security clearance
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Must be able to pass a physical fitness test
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working on a US NAVY Range Support Craft
- Previous experience working in a similar role on a commercial vessel
- Knowledge of US NAVY procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of safety and security procedures
- Knowledge of navigation and communication systems
Working Conditions:
- The Able Seaman (AB) (Advanced) will be required to work on board a US NAVY Range Support Craft in a variety of environments, including at sea and in port.
- The Able Seaman (AB) (Advanced) will be required to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be able to adapt to changing circumstances.
- The Able Seaman (AB) (Advanced) will be required to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- The Able Seaman (AB) (Advanced) will be required to lift, carry, and move heavy objects.
