Job Title: Deck Officer/Crew Member

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deck Officer/Crew Member to join our team on a commercial fishing vessel. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, as well as maintaining a clean and organized working environment.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times


• Operate and maintain fishing gear, including nets, lines, and winches


• Perform routine vessel maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and painting


• Assist with navigation, including chart plotting and communication with shore-based personnel


• Participate in fish handling and processing


• Assist with other duties as required by the Master or Bosun

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in commercial fishing or related maritime roles is highly desirable


• Strong knowledge of fishing gear operation, vessel maintenance, and navigation techniques


• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces


• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment


• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Certifications and Training:

• STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) certification


• Fishing industry-specific certifications, such as Fishing Vessel Officer (FVO) or Fishing Vessel Engineer (FVE)


• Basic Safety Training (BST) certification


• First Aid and CPR certification

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 kg/110 lbs)


• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including exposure to wind, rain, and extreme temperatures


• Good eyesight and hearing
