Merchant Mariner Course Evaluator (Deck) - GS-2101-12
This vacancy is for a Merchant Mariner Course Evaluator (Deck) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard team.
Typical Work Assignments:
- Evaluating the maritime technical subject matter of courses and programs curricula.
- Reviewing and assessing the qualifications and certifications of merchant mariners.
- Conducting evaluations of training programs and courses to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on maritime technical matters.
- Developing and implementing evaluation criteria and methodologies.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in maritime operations and a thorough understanding of the U.S. Coast Guard's regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must possess a valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with a rating as Master, Chief Mate, or Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch.
- Must have at least 18 months of experience as a Master, Chief Mate, or Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on a vessel of at least 100 gross tons.
- Must have a valid STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) certificate.
- Must have a valid Medical Certificate in accordance with 46 CFR 10.227.
