Deckhand Position
American Cruise Lines, the largest U.S. cruise company, offers unique experiences exploring America's rivers and coasts.
We're hiring Deckhands for the 2026 season.
You'll work on our ships to ensure a safe and seamless voyage for all our guests, as well as assist with daily operations and maintenance tasks.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for all guests and crew members on board.
- Assist with deck operations, including mooring, unmooring, and maneuvering the vessel.
- Participate in daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to maintain the ship's appearance and functionality.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo, supplies, and equipment.
- Perform tasks as assigned by senior crew members, including but not limited to:
- Deck maintenance and repairs
- Painting and varnishing
- Galley and laundry duties
- Assisting with navigation and communication equipment
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have a valid STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) certificate
- Must have a valid Medical Certificate (MLC)
- Must have a valid Passport
- Must be able to pass a background check and a pre-employment medical examination
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Must be able to lift and move heavy objects
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
Vessel Type:
Our Deckhands will work on a variety of vessels, including riverboats, coastal cruise ships, and expedition vessels.
Ranks and Certifications:
Deckhands will be expected to work under the supervision of senior crew members, including Engineers, Bosuns, and Masters.
Preferred certifications include:
- AB ( Able Seaman) or higher
- Engine Room Rating (ERR) or higher
- Medical Certificate (MLC)
- STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers)
