Abled Bodied Seafarer

Job Title: Able Seaman (AB) - Large Vessel

Location: Coastal Maine

Rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off

The Role:

New DHC is seeking Able Seamen (ABs) to support deck operations, watch standing, and general vessel maintenance aboard our large vessels. As an Able Seaman, you will be responsible for:

• Performing deck operations, including mooring, unmooring, and handling of deck equipment


• Standing watch and participating in navigation, lookout, and communication duties


• Maintaining and repairing deck equipment, including winches, cranes, and other machinery


• Assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the vessel's deck and superstructure


• Participating in safety drills and emergency response procedures

Requirements:

• Valid STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) certification


• Valid Able Seaman (AB) certification


• Valid Medical Certificate in accordance with STCW regulations


• Valid Radar Observer certification


• Valid Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) certification


• Valid Basic Safety Training (BST) certification


• Valid Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) certification


• Valid Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF) certification


• Valid Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) certification


• Valid Security Awareness certification


• Valid Crowd Management certification


• Valid Ship Security Officer (SSO) certification


• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification


• Valid First Aid certification


• Valid GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) certification


• Valid VHF (Very High Frequency) Radio Operator certification


• Valid Radar certification


• Valid Electronic Navigation certification


• Valid Basic Safety Training (BST) certification


• Valid Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) certification


• Valid Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF) certification


• Valid Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) certification


• Valid Security Awareness certification


• Valid Crowd Management certification


• Valid Ship Security Officer (SSO) certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as an Able Seaman or in a similar role


• Knowledge of vessel operations and maintenance


• Experience with deck equipment and machinery


• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces


• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
