Norwegian America Line, established in 1910 and headquartered in Oslo, Norway, operated liners and cargo ships globally, serving Africa. After WWI it commanded a fleet of 19 vessels, several for cargo. WWII losses were offset by newbuildings, and from 1970s company focused on container and bulk shipping. In 1980 its last two passenger liners were transferred to the joint venture Norwegian American Cruises with Leif Höegh & Co, which was sold to Cunard Line in 1984.
