Nedlloyd

Nedlloyd, founded in 1970 in Rotterdam, emerged from the merger of four historic Dutch liners—SMN, KRL, KJCPL, and VNS—under the umbrella of the Nederlandsche Scheepvaart Unie. By 1977 the group unified its brand as Koninklijke Nedlloyd Groep, integrating KJCPL’s Hong Kong‑based operations as Royal Interocean Lines. The 1981 acquisition of KNSM expanded its fleet, positioning Nedlloyd as a major container carrier with diversified liner services across Europe, Asia, and the Southern Hemisphere.
