Lloyd Brasileiro

Lloyd Brasileiro, a Brazilian shipping company founded in 1894 and headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, emerged as the sole major shipping entity in South America, bolstered by its acquisition of German ships seized in 1917 following Brazil's entry into World War I. By 1931, the company had grown to rank among the 50 largest shipping companies globally, operating a fleet of 73 vessels with a combined gross tonnage of 271,000.
