Empresa Líneas Marítimas Argentinas (ELMA), an Argentine cargo shipping line established in 1960, operated a diverse fleet of over 60 vessels, with a combined deadweight tonnage of approximately 700,000 tonnes, serving Argentina's foreign trade until its dissolution in the 1990s. The company's strategic network spanned Northern Europe, the United Kingdom, the Baltic Sea, the Mediterranean, the east coasts of the United States and Canada, the Gulf of Mexico, the Pacific, the Middle East, Far East, and Africa. ELMA was formed through the merger of state-owned entities, the Merchant Fleet of the State (FME) and Argentina Fleet of Navigation of Ultramar (FANU).
