The fundamental safety training required for all seafarers before sailing. It includes Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Elementary First Aid, and Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities.

This certification is mandatory for all seafarers regardless of rank or department.

Validity Period
5 Years

Requires a refresher course or revalidation every 5 years under STCW Manila Amendments 2010.

International Equivalency

Because this certificate operates under the STCW Code A-VI/1, it is universally recognized by all 164 member states of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

While the actual certificate may be issued by a specific flag state's maritime authority (such as the UK MCA, USCG, DG Shipping India, or AMSA), the training standards and competencies evaluated are identical globally.
