The global shipping industry is urging the United Nations and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to oppose any attempt to impose compulsory tolls or transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz.
The industry is concerned that such fees would significantly increase the cost of shipping oil and other commodities through the strategically important waterway, which is a critical artery for global trade.
