India has issued a directive to shipowners, ship managers, and recruitment companies, cautioning them against deploying the country's seafarers on vessels undertaking trips through the Strait of Hormuz amid renewed tensions in the region.
The move comes as a precautionary measure to safeguard the lives of Indian seafarers, who are among the largest groups of international seafarers globally. With many Indian seafarers already employed on vessels operating in the region, the Indian government is urging them to exercise caution and consider alternative routes or employment opportunities.
