Deck Cadet UK Process

The Certificate of Higher Education in Nautical Science (including preparation for STCW OOW Certificate) provides a pathway to academic qualification and with further study in the UK, is a Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) approved route to a Merchant Navy Deck Officer of the Watch (OOW) Certificate. The CertHE is awarded by Liverpool John Moores University (UK) who provides assessments and monitor quality at SAMET.

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum 10+2 passed in PCM or Commerce,B.Sc Graduates and any engineering graduates may apply with 60% or 50% marks in the final year of B.Sc. with physics in any of the years of B.Sc. or B.E. / B.Tech. degree.

Age Limit - Maximum 27 years of age as on 1st of January or 1st of August.

Physical Standards - Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000.

Eyesight - Candidates have to qualify a full eyesight test conducted by the Mercantile Marine Department before being finally selected for the course. They should have 6/6 in each eye without visual aids and should be free from color blindness.
